It is better for you:

have friends that laugh at you,

mock you, criticize you, 

but they would always still be there whenever you need them. 

They knew your secrets and still dare to keep it.

They had their own siblings but still treat you like a family.

Because I live for the future.

People just met you now.  Get to know your past.

Started to judge you from the past and criticize you now.

But not a friend. 

They accept who you are,

they create the future with you.

Life.

It is about something in you that are not owned by others.
